Those Metra bi-levels look pretty sharp. They could ease my pangs a bit for the missing PLATED Budd bi-levels. I'd rather have a different locomotive, though. Maybe something F40'ish. Ed Hi Ed, I grew up seeing the Pullman and Budd cars as well. I left Chicago 15 years before the Nippon Sharyo cars showed up. I only really saw the “newer” cars in videos and on a subsequent visit to the Chi back in 2012.
I’ll probably try and get a 5-7 car train worth of the Atlas SS bilevels. I’ll be waiting for the “street price” though!

Since the Atlas model is the old True Line Trains tooling, I did a search and found that it appears that TLT might have had two different body shells. One version had nothing between the ditchlights (Caltrain, Marc) and another had lit number boards there (MBTA, Metrolink) and the Metra version had what appears to be a light there. So, there is hope that Atlas will do both versions. For the Metra MP36s I'm a little concerned that they don't show a front view. The Metra locos have a extra signal light in the nose that the other operators don't.

Thanks for looking, I haven't ever seen the TLT units in person and can't recall what they offered when they did make them. I'm hoping Atlas does them right and it would be even cooler if the center light actually functions. I have zero need for modern era stuff but I got to ride an excursion pulled by the 425 a few years back so I kinda like to have the model.

Here are some pix of my TLT Metra 420. It looks good. Printing is sharp, some details could be better. The model runs OK too. Nice speed range and silent. Haven't used it with DCC. Two quick snapshots: BTW, you can also use the cars with the recently released Rapido F59 of course. Cornelius.

I don't know that "guys want them plated". I know that I do. The real ones are shiny stainless. They are not spray painted aluminum. Ed anybody has pics of chrome plated tyco trains vs. plated walthers passenger cars ? Trying not to get too off-topic but I found this on the Tyco Forum:
It's not my photo, but here's a link to the thread: Tyco Chromed Passenger Cars

I'm with you, I'm glad they are bringing Dash 8s with ditch lights but it would be nice to see where they are going to be mounted. Hopefully the placement is correct for each road name.

The ones on the UP units look right to me. Definitely in for one. Or more. I'm very fond of "spartan" cabs, aesthetically.

All I have been able to find is the mostly useless Atlas side on drawing. If you say the UP ones look good, I am hoping you are right because that would mean my CN ones will be good by extension.... they were ex-UP after all.

I based that statement not on having looked at the upcoming UP model, but on Atlas having done the low mounted ditch lights before on other models, and the prototypes of the UP 40-8s they're doing having ditch lights in that same location.
