I'm hoping that Walthers will do the coaches in the blue/yellow merger scheme at the very least. Then maybe some blue/grey merger scheme E8's and E9's to pull them I could be mistaken, but didn't Walthers already do the PS 52 seat center lounge coach in that scheme, with the C&O logo? It wouldn't take much to do the B&O cars in the merger scheme with Capitol Dome logo. As far as the power is concerned, while the Es are being offered in traditional tri-color scheme; Es painted in the "Sunburst" scheme or the Capitol Dome scheme would also be appropriate with this train as offered.

Yes, Walthers did, three different times. the first time was the fluted version, the second was the de-fluted car, and the third time was the Pere Marquette train with the Metalizer-style paint on the fluting. I'm referring to this all-new B&O coach, as many were repainted into the B&O/C&O corporate scheme.

So, what would have been the typical E-unit configuration for a 1958 13- or 14-car Capitol Limited? I'm thinking at least A-B-A, since the terrain wasn't exactly The Water Level Route. Or, did they add a unit for the more mountainous part of the route?

Or, did they add a unit for the more mountainous part of the route? Typically two E8 or 9 units (most likely A-A, but there were some E8Bm units) with a pair of F7s added at Cumberland for the climb up Sand Patch. After that, it pretty much was water level to Chicago. There are some photos from earlier in the fifties of the train with three-unit F3 sets, or, an E unit, and A-B F3. I don't believe helpers were added eastbound. It seems, looking at photos, that as the E units got older, B&O added more to the train so that in the mid-sixties, multiple E units would have been the rule. Greg
