Didn't. Model Power make a shark unit? I had some old junker once. They did. I think it was a Roco variant.

I had a 70s model power shark. It was dual truck powered, heavy cast metal frame, gigantic can motor. Definitily a Roco variant as mentioned above, not a Mehano or like MP's current junk. I sold it on ebay a few years back. I got decent money even though the gears were damaged.

Model Power had 1 Shark body, but 2 slightly different drives. the 1st had No Flywheel, and the trucks were 1/2 metal,1/2 plastic.they also had wheels that were RP25,or close to RP25. the second drive had a Flywheel, all plastic trucks and the close to RP25 wheels at 1st. D&H was the 1st road for what was called the "Super Shark" about 1975. later other roads had the "Super" drive.later 80s Sharks may have the close to RP25 wheels,or may come with Large Flange Roco Wheels similar to NEM wheels, but the flanges were in between NEM and NMRA flanges. those wheels were also found under the AHM/ROCO Alco C424. The Bachy Shark isn't a bad looking rendition of a shark if you make one fix. Bachmann USA really screwed up when they reused another A unit chassis for the Baldwin. The metal chassis is too wide for the Baldwin's fuel tank, so Bachmann made the plastic tank wider, it really looks awful. With some work you can fix that. The left Shark is straight from the box, the right Shark has modified fuel tanks- the fix makes a huge difference. The photo below is clickable, if you follow the link, there is a set of photos showing what's involved with fixing the fuel tank... Bachmann NYC Sharks by Engine Shed, on Flickr

In the additional photos BLI has posted the number boards don't look all that bad. I hope the windshield access grabs are a bit smaller and better aligned and maybe the windshield itself a little better fitted. Pre-production photo notwithstanding... Ed

Model Power imported a Roco made Shark and FA2 both sharing the same chassis for years. At some point the drive got a slight redesign making the truck towers all plastic and similar in design (with long plastic pins holding them in place to the bolster) to those used in the GP38/GP40/SD24/SD35s sold by Atlas (some later by Con-Cor). Giveaway on the new drives is a redesigned fuel tank cap that is less boxy.
The drive shared motor and some components with their E7/E9 (sold by Model Power and later Con-Cor) and the motor itself also was used in their O-scale F9 (Atlas).
The shell has holes in the sides for frame tabs to snap into. I don't know how well it compares to an actual engine. But an A-B-B-A set of powereds with that fat 7-pole motor aught to be able to pull 200 cars no problems.
