I'd rather have user-applied grab irons than molded-on grab irons.

No grab irons and MU hoses no thanks Add them yourself For the price why not You can see no grab irons and no MU cables but as I said in the past, at $129 MSRP for a nonsound engine (Street price maybe around $104) you will have to be hard pressed to not simply add them yourself pretty easily and quickly. I'm a realist, so at the price and if the overall quality is good well they will surely sell and outsell MANY OTHER MANUFACTURERS SD70ACE MODELS. That is a fact! The price is so great and if quality is equally great well model railroaders of all financial levels could afford at least one and most model railroaders on the lower & medium financial level will actually be able to afford buying 3-4 models in one shot! You just can't beat that! Most important issue will be the overall quality of the model which people will see soon to be SURE it is going to be a great seller. If they are good I am in for all the UP numbers. I will surely do a review of the first model and spread the word at that time too. So in a short period we will see more.

Hopefully this will deliver what the Bachmann unit promised to be.

I don't know if it's just the way the photo looks or what, but, the roof on the KCS sure looks white to me instead of silver.

I think the roof just came out white because it's overexposed. If you look back toward the radiator it looks more silver. Hopefully they'll have the samples out at the National Train Show and people will post better photos then.
