Yes Mike would rather be just operating trains vs programing everything all the time. So maybe will just leave the lights OFF! My first DCC experience was on Digitrax so learned to like DCC very much. Then joined a module club that got suckered into buying Digitrax. Didn't take too long to find out it was the WRONG system but by then they had too much invested in it. Besides their manuals are written by ALIEN geeks who don't know beans how to use the English language! Andy, it's not the wrong system, it's just wrong for you. I like Digitrax, I have tired NCE, but it's not for me. NCE is not the wrong system, just not right for me. Again, it's all just toy trains, and grown men playing with toy trains. Sorry to hear you got suckered into digitrax like the module club & so many others. Started working around the real RRs in 1974. So I'm trying to recreate the real RR experience & not just play choo choos. But to each their own. NCE has been a very good system for my friends & me. And more than a few of those other system users wish now they were using NCE!

Wow, a little close-minded are we.

the Stewart C628 cab has me puzzled,is it worth installing those PITA lite bars,or just ignore the class lites, and maybe the head lite also ? Spikre You could do what Bowser has done with them, and simply shape a sheet of brass into the cab roof, so it is just above the windshield. Then simply lay an LED on top of it. A better solution would be a pair of small golden white LEDs for the headlights, and a pair of bright white LEDs, one per numberboard. It all depends on how involved you want to get with it.

I like them both, but have used Digitrax more, and longer, so I like it better. Probably because I've gotten used to the way it works. I think NCE is much more user-friendly, but I seem to be able to do more with the Digitrax system. Several of us in our club have a theory that whichever one you start with, you seem to like better.

Terry, will give the C628 one more try,if those bars don't stay put, will look for MV Lense Jewels for it. why weren't those bars cast as a single piece ? with an option to separate them,or just include a single piece casting also ? then you pick which way the cab will be finished. Spikre

If you are referring to the old Stewart 628, use the supplied tape and parts and those class light bars will go in as intended. Yes, it can be frustrating, but, they do work.

?? eh49, does Bowser have a new, easier to install part now ? do You have a part number for it ? the C628 is an original Stewart with the metal tube, or rod drive shafts. would this be 1st run ? have had it at least 10 years now,and was really stumped by theose cab bars. also don't recall any tape in the box,but never looked for it.
