Shane: Sorry to hear that you are not selling to DCC Trains which is a larger store. So bottom line Shane, DCC had met the $3000 and you just don't want to sell to real train shop. The other shop in our area that you choose to sell to is mostly ship, planes and rockets with very - very little Train stock if any. Why would I go to a hobby shop that does not specialize or stock trains? You can change my opinion if you had presented a good reason, which you have not. Maybe it is the other way round and "IT IS YOUR OPINION THAT CANNOT BE CHANGED!" Being a business man myself, and knowing for a fact the DCC trains has met your $3000 order, and that they had stock on the self, I would conclude that Scale Trains has a personal vendetta with the owners. Sorry to see personal decisions get in the way of good business decisions. I would like everyone across the country to know I personally talked to the owners and the problem is personal with Scale Trains. With that said I believe Scale Trains and DCC Trains need to get over this petty childish behavior and make amends. Sad to see a good company start out in one year and turned a positive into a negative that the whole country is reading online now. Lost customer with deep pockets, Stephen . Stephen,
What it sounds like to me is that you are upset because you will not be able to purchase Scale Trains products at the shop of your choice, and you are taking it out on the company. You have turned this discussion into your own personal crusade against Scale Trains claiming that you know "the whole story". However, it is a story that is not yours to tell. You say you are a business man, yet your actions have not reflected good business etiquette. You have turned this discussion personal, interjecting your opinion, which has no bearing on the business relationship between the parties involved other than being a customer.
Just as you have vouched for DDC Trains, I will vouch for the staff at Scale Trains as I know them and have known them personally for quite some time. They have always exemplified the utmost in professional conduct, especially in the face of adversity such as what is being alleged here by you. So, I find hard to believe your claims of "petty childish behavior".
That said, this discussion is over. Take up any further discussion regarding this issue directly with the parties involved.

It seems simple enough to me, they want to control the pricing themselves and pocket all the profit as much as they can. If that means less product sold, they're not worried about it.
Which is fine, but selling 75% more product for around 50% of the profit actually puts you ahead. I can't imagine why my wholesale dealer wouldn't be able to maintain an account, they buy stuff by the pallet load from everyone else.
I can just wait for someone to dump it down the road if I really want something. I just got an Atlas car that I missed out on damn near 20 years ago for all of $6 - less than they were then. Granted, he dumped so much stuff it cut into my sales, but I made out okay.
The sad reality is as hobbyists get older and older more of that is going to happen, guys either get out of the hobby or pass on and the family has no idea what they're selling so it goes for pennies on the dollar.

To make a profit, they sold our line for a higher price which squeezed the retailer margin between their dealer net and our direct selling price. This caused a-lot of confusion and frustration for their customers. In the end, we mutually agreed to part company because the situation was not working well for either of us. Earlier in this thread, you said, "...outright looks to screw hobby dealers, between selling their stuff at my cost at shows and now pulling the rug out from under shops who sold their items". I am compelled to reply because your inaccurate comments could negatively affect our company's reputation. We have NOT sold our products at any show; 2. Since you purchased our products from a wholesaler instead of directly from us, our direct selling price was likely close to your cost; and 3. We are continuing to sell our line through retailers as well as directly from our website. If you have further questions or comments, please feel fee to contact me directly at Shane@ScaleTrains.com. Having these discussions publicly is unprofessional. Shane Shane Wilson President ScaleTrains.com, Inc.

If you go to the scale trains website they have a list of shows they will be attending over the next year. Lots of them. Including one in Germany !
I recommend you go to one and stop by and say hello.
Good people all around who obviously are trying to make good models and products.
And, the way they are going, you will get to see even more new products being announced.
