For years I've been pushing for Walthers to make the Tempo as their legendary name train. And now I'm afraid they're never going to get around to it! Now how about the Toronto-Barrie commuter train, circa 1980-1981? The engines are already being made by some crappy foreign company. We just need the cars!!! (Don Jaworski photo.)

I cannot remember receiving more advertising from Walthers than I have received for this train. They are really pushing this train hard. I wonder if they are worried about getting enough orders to actually produce it.

I'd think the Olympian Hi would generate a bit more buzz as it has a few cars that haven't been done while this is a rerun. And Proto level Eries with the stainless on the nose would be epic.
Guess I'll have to do the sleeper skytop...

I would suspect that the Auto-Train would have more buyers than they might think.
The old Bachmann stuff commanded decent money for a long time, I think nice boxed domes and auto carriers still will. The Athearn U33B is somewhat collectible too.

Maybe if they had done the few extra cars needed to do an Olympian Hiawatha, they would have sold more. I probably would have bought the whole set then. I already have a first run Twin Cities train.. no need for another one.

I get a daily e-message from Walthers advertising the train. They would not be advertising to this extent if the number of trains ordered was robust.
The train looks beautiful, but it simply is not what I model. It also is somewhat pricey. I wish them success.

What Walthers DID sell out of (without even trying) are the UP and MILW E's, even with the moronic numbering.

The daily update about the train is starting to be somewhat of a nuisance in my email.
