Seller Trainz on Ebay has all 14 numbers of the Arrowhead Penn Central H39 list. $81.52 per car and all 14 listings have a quantity of "More than 10 available". Strikes me as a inventory buy-out in light of the ongoing silence from Wyoming. Speculate away.

Spring Creek still has 14 numbers of PC for $62 per car. Beats $81.52 per car.

richardthomasatal--
I call BS. Everybody knows Canadian Model Trains was the biggest recent con story in this hobby! They took cash deposits on many brass models (when the importers, including but not limited to Overland Models, did NOT require any cash deposit at all). Then Tom Tomblin took the money and ran, leaving many customers out of money (not small sums of money) and out of models. Overland Models subsequently did what they could to get the right models to the right customers, but I'm sure many lost out.
Trainz is as honest as any train dealer out there. They have bought trains from me this year, and sold them, and I got paid in a pretty timely fashion, currently totaling over $5,000 to date, with one outstanding shipment of HO trains that I just sent them. When I have ordered models from them, the ones I received were indeed new-old-stock, exactly as they were advertised, and as good or better than the models I've received from other Ebay sellers (I'm sorta collecting nos Atlas diesels produced from 10 to 20 years ago).
Trainz for me has done exactly what they said they would do, with no hassles whatsoever.
Trainz does sell some brand-new Tangent rolling stock as well. Seems they've been branching out lately to offering more brand-new stock. Just because they have some Arrowhead hoppers doesn't mean that Arrowhead is not still in business. I would not read anything into that at all.

I've bought a few items from Trainz and had no issues, but you have to decide if what is being charged is fair to you. The price for those Arrowhead PC hoppers seemed excessive which would prompt me to look elsewhere for something better in this case.

I've used train too. Always checking there used low priced ebay stuff. Never an issue after winning.

I already have all 14 numbers. Bought direct as soon as the Father's Day sale was announced.

There are many ebay sellers who now buy Tangent, ScaleTrains, other (yes Arrowhead) rolling stock at whatever price they can get it for, and then turn right around and mark the price up to what the market will bear.
I watch the listings all the time; somebody is buying the merchandise. They are factually getting those prices.
Many people no longer have regular access to train stores, and the shows can be a crapshoot and too far time in-between. So I think more and more people are just paying the price if they like the freight car and have to have them.
I confess that I have, and I've paid the shipping to get scarce but new freight cars from Credit Valley Railway and Otter Valley Railway, both in Canada. If I want it, I want it and that's that.

Myself included. It's been a couple years, but every Tangent car I bought I flipped six months later for more than I paid. It's like taking candy from a baby.

Four of the five PRR Arrowhead hopper cars I have in my collection came from a show vendor who bought up a lot of Lombard’s inventory when they had their blowout sale. I paid more for the cars through the vendor than I would have if I bought them on sale at Lombard, but of course I didn’t have to pay the high shipping either so it was kind of a wash as far as pricing goes. Plus I could inspect the cars at the show to make sure there were not loose parts in the (now infamous) boxes.
If this is the end of Arrowhead, it’s a shame.

I thought that this started out as a topic about the <Conrail> version of the hoppers that people paid for, went missing, Blaine was going to look for at his freight company’s warehouse, before he himself went missing. But everyone keeps bringing up PC hoppers; did Conrail hoppers ever show up? Did the down fall of Blaine /Arrowhead come from missing Conrail hoppers or were Railgons, books, or something else involved?

First hoppers go missing. Then people go missing.
Is this the Bermuda Triangle of model railroading?

Arrowhead came up on the Rio Grande io.groups email list. Jim Eager said he had heard Blain was in a car accident.
Another fellow said: "Blaine has asked me to pass on that he was indeed in a head-on collision, which has made things difficult for him, however, he assures me that Arrowhead is not out of business, just slowed down a bit."

that's really unfortunate, but why is this the first thing we have heard from them in 8 months, and it's still not coming from Blaine directly?!
That's no way to run a business.

I cringe at those 82$ arrowhead resell hoppers. I kick myself for not buying those reduced price 6 and 12 pack cars, not to re sell but to just own a legendary string of hoppers. The acf hopper, well I can wait. They did a small run of very few roadnames, but more were expected. I wonder if those were lost in a warehouse too?

It would be one thing to simply disappear with other peoples money of your own volition, but like Riogrande said certainly that type of accident can have lasting long term effects. I wish Blaine a speedy recovery.

One of my younger brothers was in a head on collision with his motorcycle. He was in the ICU for 8 weeks, 4 of which he was in a coma. All told it was 6 months before he came home in a wheel chair. It would be a year of therapy after that, before he could even come close to having a conversation, and even then, it would only be a few words. In August, it will be 39 years since his accident, still in a wheel chair, still has trouble carrying out conversation, and cannot work. I pray for Blaine and his family, but it being this long, is not a good sign.

Never mind a head-on collision can really mess you up bad for months, physically and mentally. Yeah, but who cares right? I've been in a couple nasty car accidents, luckily not a head on. I hope he recovers, I really do. That being said, if I was in an accident and was not able to show up for work for 8 months, and did not inform my boss, I would probably be fired for not showing up. As a business owner you have a certain responsiblilty to your customers to keep them being informed if you are not able to provide the services they are paying for. If Blaine himself was incapacitated, someone else should have taken care of it for him.

Yep, my wife's cousin was in a head-on collisions some years back and she was in a full body cast for 8-9 months and then in rehab for another 6months after that. We were just glad she's still alive.

No, they probably can't, they have no idea how he runs things or what the passwords are or the bank info and if he's out of commission they can't get it from him. My family wouldn't have a clue how to run my business if I suddenly was incapacitated.

If he's telling friends to convey the accident, he can convey the info to family or friends to update the website or send a message out to Kalmbach or something for the hobby newswire.
