Bowser has announced another run of RS3's. Quite a few roads too.

Lots of neat roads, i don't think i'd ever see southern tuxedo interstate units from the factory anywhere.
Wheres my LHR units!! I can only justify so many RDG RS3s.

L&N 248 and 250 were ex-TC locomotives which the Tennessee Central picked up second-hand after Reading retired and traded them in. Following the abandonment of the TC in 1968, 248 and 250 went to the L&N. At least one (L&N 248) was later converted to a slug.

Bowser's offering two GN numbers: 220 and 227. The GN historical society is shown as offering 227. I'd say that's an ooops. I do love those GN ladders on the noses--very tempting. Note the three versions of sill striping on these consecutively numbered Alcos: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=6208918Ed

Damn, NYC and PC with extra water tank and air tank on the roof! No cigar band, though. Probably easy enough to renumber the PC unit.
One thing about the Stewart Phase I shell that always bugged me was the louvers look too wide to my eye. MDC/Athearn are about right, Atlas louvers are too narrow (but I think I've seen a Southern unit with louvers like that).

Did you find out about these from an email announcement? I think I've emailed them twice now to add me to their newsletter, because there's no automatic sign-up.

I love the maroon, yellow block lettering. Most reviews have been really good about Bowser's Alcos.
So I'm adding the two RI units to my roster.

I was kinda hoping for some CNJ in several schemes.

Neat, but I wonder what's going on with the last run (had BN)?

Most of these are a no-brainer to pre-order. I would imagine all of them will sell well. I probably should get a Reading for myself.

Hmm. The RI 470 and 473. Freight units. I guess the HEP box couldn't have been tooled up for the dual service RS3's, even though I saw one at a show with half the box and railing for another road.

A Lackawanna phase 1 is just what I've been hoping for...now if they'd make with a Lehigh & Hudson River in a later run, I'd REALLY be a happy guy.

If I was to guess, they will probably do 3 and 10 in the "centennial" dip green scheme. in later years those two units were heavily photographed as 1 and 4 were kept captive around warwick for use in the yard. You could do Vermont Railway and Batten Kill in the same run.

So still no GBW RS3's yet. I'm holding out hope they do one someday. A chopped nose RS20 would be easy to do as well.

I'm glad to see the New York Central unit with the hood-top air reservoir. That makes a pretty unique spotting feature. New York Central RS3 8344 by Edmund, on Flickr I had sent Lee English an email about such an engine and he replied that photo documentation was difficult to find. I kind of cobbled together an old Proto 1K NYC RS-2 I had on hand and used an air reservoir from, if I recall, a GE P-42 Amtrak engine. [edit] details West AT-263?] Proto 1000, RS-2 by Edmund, on Flickr Scale Sound replacement speakers are a must for the Bowser (and just about any) engines. Bowser did the RS-3s in the GBW as delivered scheme one or two batches ago. Or are you referring to a later scheme? Regards, Mike So still no GBW RS3's yet. I'm holding out hope they do one someday. A chopped nose RS20 would be easy to do as well.

Lots of neat roads, i don't think i'd ever see southern tuxedo interstate units from the factory anywhere. Wheres my LHR units!! I can only justify so many RDG RS3s. Unfortunately, when the Southern took over the Interstate, Southern shipped those RS-3's to Atlanta for repaint, and then proceeded to use them throughout the south, never to see their home rails again.

The good news is that unlike Rapido, Bowser puts more focus on the top of the locomotive and will get the Delaware & Hudson colors correct! I’ve got the first run to include D&H 1508 and Bowser did just an absolute beautiful job, both paint and performance so I’m really looking forward to the new D&H units units announced
