Ed, thanks very much for what you posted on November 16, which I've just now seen. I'll try to check when the D&H flats carried gun barrels.

Athearn is late in posting their December announcements but they have created the scheduled live event for the announcements on YouTube.
The image they are using is of a CN SD75M so it appears the SD75M will be among the announcements

Other than the Rock Island Trailers I think I'm good. Look forward to Reading and Frisco SW1500's in the future though.

It appeared D&RGW SD50's were shown, once again with no nose signal light. If Athearn ever upgrades the SD50 for the nose signal light, I could be interested.

Basically a 'what if Rio Grande did not change their name when they bought SP' kind of thing.

Yeah, I talked to John Engstrom years ago and that was the story. I thought I had heard in the past couple years that Athearn had plans to upgrade the SD50/60's to Genesis but crickets since then. The SD50 is low priority for me, especially because they were pretty much Front Range only for the first few years and after that is out of my time period of interest. The sad thing here is that rather than do a proper Rio Grande SD50 with nose lights, they do a foobie alternate history SD70, without the nose light. Weak. just wait until the new GP30 comes out without nose lights. Those are already out - P2K Any GP30 newly tooled I would expect would be ST rivet counter or Genesis.

Weak. just wait until the new GP30 comes out without nose lights. Indeed. It's anything goes any more. Don't have the right tooling? No problem! We'll do an "alternate history" version where they picked up a bunch second hand, which didn't have nose lights. Rapido should have taken that route with the CSX B36-7s. Maybe CSX could have bought all the Santa Fe B36-7s for pennies on the dollar, because the incoming ex-BN management types were down on GE at the time. Won't need those pesky CSX stepwells on an ex-Santa Fe locomotive! Done and done.

At one time all of the separate walkway engines were going to go to Genesis. The noses on the 50 and 60 are separate pieces, so a new drive and new noses would be all that was needed. At least that's what then employees of Athearn told me back in 2013 and 2015. But even then, I was also told the 50/60 walkway tooling had issues then. I do hope for the Genesis SD50 in DRGW as I parted with all of my RTR undecs I'd had stashed away in preparation, but I do still have 3 undec shells built form all the test shots I've had forever, including separate noses I fitted nose lights to.

Yes, they are the 40' Trailers, but still a December announcement - my mistake was simply copy/pasting from the Athearn YouTube description to avoid misspelling the name of the trailers.

Recalled it being talked about, so did a search - it was covered way back on June 16th 2020 where they stated Mack put through a big license increase that would mean too much of a price increase.
Things may have changed since then so it may be worth putting in a request to their request email.

Athearn Train Tuesday - December 28th 2021 - in January moves to 7:30 CSTThis week covers N scale releases - does this mean you are considering the freuhauf flat beds? - haven't heard anything from development, but will keep you posted - has Jim's interest - think Athearn will go into 1970s and 80s american automobiles? know licensing can be a pain. - yes, licensing can be a struggle - but good news Athearn owned by Horizon who has great relationships with many from the RC car market, we are working on perhaps bringing out some different option. No, won't be corvettes or mustangs, more like the pinto, town squire, stuff people actually had in their driveways - looking for suggestions - high rail vehicles? - had comments on that in the past 0:25 - Friends of Athearn - SP 4699, viewer sent in a picture of the prototype currently, great kitbash idea 0:29 - Q&A - what about FRIDAY Jim? - Friday is an important day. 3:30 CST live announcements, some big EMD stuff on the horizon, C&NW guys will want to tune in - will you be at Springfield? - Yes - Denver train show in April? - Yes - good NS stuff this Friday? - nods head - news on AC4400's? - yes, Jon no longer has a social life thanks to the hours of work he is doing on the project, we will be hearing something soon. Jim also mentioned NS. I guess the AC4400CW is still not quite ready to be announced yet.

Total guesswork on my part but I suspect with the return of physical hobby shows and Springfield happening Jan 29/30 that we will see a return of at least some of the new tooling items being announced at the major shows.
So maybe the AC4400 at Springfield??

Maybe they can retool their SD45 so we can get the correct color of gray for the EL's, Scaletrains sure cannot get it right. Maybe this is in the works, have not seen a SD45 from them in some time. Just do not make them to intricate. Would really like to see an Erie Lackawanna Genesis ICC bay window caboose.

While I sympathize regarding the color, is there enough of a market for the SD45 to justify tooling a brand new G2.0 one? I doubt it, but that is merely my opinion (the current Athearn SD45 is RTR).
With Rapido now entering the EMD freight engine field I suspect there are other models that Athearn needs to worry about upgrading to modern standards before going for a duplicate of an older prototype - and that's without going into the need/want people have for an SD9 or GP30 (though of course the GP30 is rumoured to be ScaleTrains).
Not to mention the big gap in the hobby at the moment - a Rivet Counter/ G2.0 level small switcher(s) ideal for shelf layouts for all those who are space constrained.
