Maybe Rapido can go for the gold and do a foobie Erie Lackawanna GP38.... And they'll accidentally stumble onto the PERFECT formula for EL gray and everyone will agree unanimously that is exactly the perfect shade of gray!

Here’s hoping that Jason gets tired of you CSX guys complaining and scraps making CSX engines and instead makes the DT&I and N&W GP38AC’s that I want. Rick Jesionowski You do realize that there is concurrently a multi-page debate across two threads at the top of this forum, right this very minute, that is parsing out the wrong shade of gray and the color of nose heralds of Scaletrains Erie Lackawanna SD45’s? Such descriptors as “disappointing” and “blinding” are two immediate points that might be construed as negative by some. So then, having said that…. Does this EL SD45 talk get dismissed as “complaining” too, or is this another example of that whole unspoken “pipe down, its just CSX, and therefore nothing the rest of us care about” double-standard thing rearing its head again? Just curious, as I noticed you didn’t weigh in on those discussions.
If it is resurrected 2 years from now, when ScaleTrains announces their latest new product, with multi-page moaning about how something 2 years ago proves ScaleTrains can't be trusted - then yes, it will be dismissed as "complaining"
The complaints have nothing to do with it "being just CSX", the complaints are about the willingness to use any excuse to start up about it yet again.

There is an old saying, "you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time". It's never more true than in the model loco industry.
An Aesop's fables punchline also comes to mind here. "If you try to please everyone, you lose your ass."

This is great! Can’t beat the venerable GP38. I hope they nail this one since it unlocks so many future opportunities.

Rick, I agree with most of your color qualms and I don't model the railroads you do, either. I thought your original comment was a good jab, well done, but you have proven that your eyes see the detail variation that makes or breaks an item. So I'd assume you'd be somewhat on the side of the person(s) pushing for closer prototype fidelity when that is exactly what Rapido is advertising (as is Athearn Genesis, and SXT rivet counter) and what we are looking to purchase. With that said I have a DT&I GP40-2 downstairs (because I love the DT&I) with the incorrect DT&I logo and the slightly off-hue orange. I like the model, and will fix the logo, but I'll live with the orange after the locomotive is weathered. Just like I'll live with a forest-green heavy PC color from a highly reputable manufacturer. There is "close enough" to fit in, and then there is "wrong" and won't fit in. Certain colors tend to have a harsher line in that regard. The SXT EL SD45 color is horribly wrong, just as Athearn's WC SDP45 colors were wrong, just as Rapido's SP&S FA's were wrong. If something is wrong, and we were being sold a premium product, I don't have any problem with someone bringing it to light. I'd sympathize, and often do, with anyone. Even NW modelers

Excited they are finally moving on to the CPR H1a/b! Will need to decide on one for my CPR heritage fleet.
Regarding the GP38, I agree with the previous comments that I would also be much more excited about a CP Rail GP38AC with GMD features.

Don't forget to include that high-demand EL caboose as part of the release!

I don't really care that much about the GP38, but CP 2816 and MNNR 35 are two locomotives I've wanted to have for a while now, so I guess I'd better get to pre-ordering.

I would buy several if they painted them in the factory delivered Erie Lackawanna paint scheme with correct gray, black roof, and maroon nose herald . Actually Erie Lackawanna had GP38-2's on order, but GP38's would do. Chris

I've been pounding the Non Dash 2 GP38/39/40 drum for years, but I'll admit that Rapido was not my top choice for any of them. An engine like this, where thousands of examples are still running all over the place in hundreds of paint schemes, really needs to be done by someone like Athearn who can crank out more than 1 run every few years.

Yep, that was exactly my perception also! Good grief. I’m the last person to give manufacturers a pass for crap, but this dude’s hate fest with Rapido really resets the bar. He must really really really like B36-7s.

I’m sure at least a few people thought you were going overboard in the past with your anti-SMD Canstock boxcar spew, or your anti-Athearn everything spew, or your anti-Ron Flanary spew, etc.

Of course they did. That was the point of my post. You reset the bar, thanks! Jason wanted me to drown, and now I’m more excited about the GP38 than anyone! Well, I was until someone pointed out the BR corner waffles on the B-100-40….off with their heads!
One thing about Ron, he could surely figure out a way to fix your B36-7 stepwells and nose in PhotoShop, that’s for sure!
