Unpopular opinions? Speak for yourself as I found the issues identified informative and evidently Scale Trains did too because they are going to fix the issues. Roadkill, before I respond to your comment in full, I would like to know what you were/are implying.
Donnell Not saying you'd drop the banhammer for no reason but you have to admit this seems a bit fishy. Two opinionated posters with unpopular opinions disappear? Wouldn't be the first time in internet forum history. If I'm wrong then I apologize.

Next release of ST SD40-2....I recall they briefly mentioned at Trainfest(?)that the second run would include Santa Fe "snoot" and I think CNW. If you can find the video they did on the SD40-2 it's towards the end.

Yep, along with Milwaukee Road and CSX SD40-3's. Very much looking forward to the CNW's as I'm sure they'll be stunning.

That paint separation that was pointed out on the Chessie should be easy to fix. If you watched the ScaleTrains video on the turbine production, you will notice that the mask used appears to be made from copper sheet. Probably because it is soft and easy to form into shape (fast/cheap). I remember one time going to the Athearn factory in Compton and they were painting passenger car shells. The mask was this huge block of metal, welded, grinder marks, polishing marks, this thing probably weight 20-25 lbs. I mean like - if you dropped it on your foot you'll be in a lot of pain. You drive over it with your truck and it'd still be in fine shape for masking. Take that little copper mask and drive over it with your Prius and what happens? Does anyone what what happened to all those paint masks that Athearn created? That would be a heavy load to send to China to reuse them. I wish I had taken a camera with me to photograph a couple of the original machines Irv created - like the one to assemble wheels and wheelsets - that was fascinating to watch. Those should have been saved for the Model Train Manufacturing Museum Hall of Fame.

How about some lots of CNW SD40-2's? I second that - 1974 era 1st choice; 1990's era repainted back into original yellow 2nd choice; Zito Yellows - last choice.
