I was just one their website and see that these GSC heavy-duty depressed center flats are ready for pre-ordering. And guess what, they are doing 15 roadnames and 2 of them are the ERIE and the Erie Lackawanna, YEA!!!!!!!!!! They should be here spring 2023. I ordered the Erie, Erie Lackawanna and the CE&I. This is a much-needed freight car for me. I have plenty of big, oversize loads for these flats including large Westinghouse transformers. Many more to come also.

These are probably the most common type of depressed center flat--a good choice by Class One. I did a UP 'cause I model it, plus a SOUTHERN 'cause I wanted an example of the grid deck. Plus I like SOUTHERN--used to see their E's going through Alexandria station: In the olden days, there was a nice settin' bench just out of view, to the left. A GREAT spot to while away a warm summer evening. Ed

I made one for Shapeways a few years ago, based off a Frisco GSC car. That was the first model train I designed for 3D printing. I think the body turned out well, although the trucks were problematic and tedious to assemble. I've considered going back and redesigning them, but obviously my market for this car is gone.
I'm glad that someone is doing an RTR model of this car though. "Wide and High" loads are fun to operate and provide an opportunity for some unique rolling stock. I'm surprised it's taken this long to get a high-quality 6-axle depressed center flat.

It would be nice to see CN and CP since they each had 5. It would also be nice to wait until the exchange rate on our dollars is more attractive. For now the SOO car is hard to resist.

There's a MoPac one on reserve, can't ever have too many east end connection cars.

Whoever is going to Trainfest this weekend, please get some good pictures and post them here. I got three ordered and of course one is an Erie, and one is Erie Lackawanna. They look great! Now all we need is Tangent to announce the release of the Erie Lackawanna bay window cabooses this weekend also! I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Very nice, thanks for the large images. It looks like the Kadee #5 head couplers are being used rather than the more common (on top shelf models) semi scale head.

Yes, 84. We're working to get them to change it to prior to the merger with a 2-panel COTS and some minor lettering updates. They do look nice. I couldn't quite make out the date on the MP flat. 84?

That would be good if they could back date the MP flat - would be more attractive for me to buy. I've had some past purchases that and 3 panel stencils when otherwise the car was a 70's version.

Confused by the LTWT and LDLMT data on the MKT and SOO cars. Must be a typo in there... the first "1" in the LDLMT should probably be a "2"?

Have you ever tried decalling a 2-panel on top of a 3-panel? The 2-panels were usually larger and should hide the 3-panel just fine.

I'm not so slow as not to realize that. When I tried to see beyond the thumbnails, Facebook demanded that I log in. That said, the link over on MFCL worked nicely. And thanks for the new link, which DOES work for me! Ed

But if possible I try to buy models with them to minimize how many I will need to hide 3 panels on.

It would be nice to see CN and CP since they each had 5. It would also be nice to wait until the exchange rate on our dollars is more attractive. For now the SOO car is hard to resist. Unfortunately, CN and CP cars from Class One are unlikely. Back in August on the ioGroups modern Freight car List Mike Brusky President & CEO of Class One stated: "We are focused on the cars that are 58'-4" at the strikers with 21'-0 decks at this point........ If we start getting into all of the deck/length variations, the project would get very muddy and expensive as that would mean a lot of body tooling. We are starting with the GSC Commonwealth trucks, but with roller bearing replacements. Second run we will be looking at the F36 Buckeye trucks, and the Commonwealth trucks with friction bearings, and possibly some of the cushioning draft gear upgrades that were added by some of the railroads.
There are a lot of variations that these cars have undergone over the years, so there is a lot to think about for what we can afford to do versus what the potential sales will be. We also have to weigh things against the manufacturer's minimum order quantities for each paint scheme and road number......and those numbers aren't exactly small.......things that keep us up at night."
The CN and CP cars don't match the 21'-0" deck/58'-4" over strikers criteria - they were at least one different alternate length. Strong suggestion then these won't happen soon, if ever. Doug Stark

They have finally got here. Just received my depressed center flats order today from CLASS ONE MODELS. I think they are a very nice flat and a good addition to my roster. Now I have to get loads on them!

Yes. I received mine yesterday. Very nice model. I ordered a Southern version and it will get stripped and repainted for CPT&C. Due to my railroad serving the coal mines of southern Illinois. The CPT&C had two of these cars to move some of the heavy equipment. I also ordered the large transformer load to go with it. It will be an impressive model when the load is installed.
The rolling quality is lacking. It is because they have rotating roller bearings. Look good, but I would rather have molded on roller bearings and better rolling quality. Not bitching, just an observation.
