Looks like he's back to his old tricks of running up his post count with babble and drivel. As to the Overland parts question, they sold off all their parts to Bill Davis at American Scale Models in 2008. Spike, what does all that have to do with this thread on Overland Models?

Spike, what does all that have to do with this thread on Overland Models? Brass versions of the steam engines he is interested in. I checked Overland brass website and the price list and availability is from 2013. Nothing new since..........

Looks like he's back to his old tricks of running up his post count with babble and drivel. SNIP Spikre has his foibles, but he's an OK guy. If you want to point fingers at those who run up their post count with little of significance actually said, there's far worse offenders. That's what the Ignore feature is for.

Spikre is interested in Erie steam. He asked a couple questions pertaining to a book that is available from one of the big brass dealers. I tried to answer them for him as best I could.
He's not merely running up his post count.
Also, Overland did sell off their parts, but the website, which may never have been updated, still says that they do repairs to Overland Models, which is confusing to say the least. For that to be true, they would have to have retained some of their parts inventory, and only sold off the small, specific list of detail parts they used to have available for regular purchase.
My one friend, Dick Kaiser, was a heavy OMI purchaser who would completely rebuild the earlier drive-through-fuel-tank models to tower gear drives. He purchased extensive amounts of Overland Models parts from them--trucks, sideframes, entire gearboxes, the full array of metric screws, etc. They had a dizzying array of parts available such that you could completely replace drive mechanisms if you knew what you were doing. This is why I have surmised--no I don't know for sure--that imo they should still have some of those parts on hand for future repairs--unless of course they really did sell everything. However the number of parts would have to be easily into the thousands, just as it was for Bowser's steam products. That is why I said it takes a lot of "stuff" to run a business, and I surmised they would still have some of that stuff around.

eh49, about the same,no actually more than posting about Earnst Gears in an Athearn Gear thread. but think that Overland has made some of the Berkshire,Texas's,and Northerns reffered to over the years. and since that Legacy may be coming to an End now,it will be the End of an Era. so don't consider this hijacking at all,as seem to recall that Overland has also published some books over the years. the Idea of a Forum is to POST Information,or Ask for Information, but a side effect of that is ones Post Count does increase. and if that gives some Heartburn, get some Vermont Powdered Marble !
