Besides the whoa is me posts there seem to be a steady stream of topics which seem to be calculated to cause trouble. When you see new posts that fit that category, you notice they are posted by the same small repeat offenders who seem to enjoy throwing a piece of meat in the water to watch the result. One person labeled those topics as "whimsical", which barely relate to trains and focus on something else which tends to result in flames and trouble. What I don't understand is how those some people seem to peddle their wares constantly and yet it's allowed - really they are high maintenance but I guess that's up to Mr. Ott to constantly clean up after them.

We have similar issues on this forum, although I will refrain from naming names.

EVERY forum has their fair share of trolls. It's just some are a little more out in the open about it. True enough. There's one reason I like ARF in particular -- the Ignore feature. Try it, you'll like it. Tunes out the trollage to your taste. My Ignore list is a very short, selective one. I don't mind people disagreeing, in fact I enjoy a good discussion where everyone doesn't think the same way I do, but those who are just wasting my time with their random electron spewage... The only time I even see it is when someone quotes them. That generally confirms their placement in File 13. The interesting thing is that sometimes you see they still are replying to me even though it's hard to see why since I don't care and it should be obvious months/years later. Which goes to show that trollage isn't about us, it's all about them...and I've got better things to do than read their honey bucket.

Always fun to see people equate people who don't think the way they do as "trollage". As old a tactic as the internet. Up there with "if you don't like the model, why don't you start your own company". Or, "you can't comment on X because you don't/haven't run/owned/done/produced X".

As per usual, the moderators over at Model Railroader have not only stroked their own egos by banning me....but also using the "agressive" reason. I have never been agressive towards anyone on any forum...ever. I do, however refuse to sugar coat anything as I feel it better serves the modeler. However, I have been mostly a lurker over here on ARF since the forum dump at Atlas. Perhaps I'll get a better ear over here? Thicker skin over here? Better...gasp.....modeling over here? I'll be participating more here. Perhaps my fellow Canadian ex-moderator Selector can explain to me Steve Otte's issue with me? On one hand he encourages me to produce and submit a scratchbuilding article for the mag....and on the other hand says I've been supervised on the forums? I don't get it. David Bedard LOL! WHEW! I thought it was me. Those guys don't like being shown or told anything that does not conform to what THEY do or think is 'proper'! Just TRY to do what you think is best and try to show it off and get at least a 'well done' or 'good idea' out of em, good luck with that. You don't put a fresh drop feed every three feet and try to tell someone else it CAN be done and watch the fur fly, they got PISSED and one guy actually accused me of lying about it! LOL! WHY -n-the heck would I want to lie about it, it's a TOY fer cryin out loud! So I'm meticulous about laying track, sue me. It works, and has for months now.

I am that and much more.. I will accept nothing less then 100% trouble free operation and to top that off I have a highly critical judge that ensures that will be done. Me.
I can break wind at the club without embarrassment. Let one of my cars derail or not couple or uncouple and I'm embarrass beyond reason..
There is a story behind that passion(madness?) and I might tell it one day.

It don't help when you are told before you ever start that all you will find is 'crusty old beeyoches' if you get into MRR. Then you DO and you DO! LMAO! It was as foretold on there for SURE!
It was a depressing reassurance of a prediction from a detractor of those in the hobby, not the hobby itself.
THIS forum has a bad rep over there so I thought it was the place for me!
