Another run of 60'OTTX GP flats selling like hotcakes, here today gone tomorrow. Just picked up 1-yellow / 2-brown off that auction site that starts with an E.

The 60' VTTX container car I pre-ordered in November arrived a few days ago.

I've already "bought" mine, in that I ordered them through my local shop. They expect to ship in October.
So.
If the part number shows "sold out", you'll only be able to get some if the shop you use has already ordered some on spec.
If the part number does not show "sold out", you can have you shop order some for you, to be shipped in "October".
Either way, they'll be here in "October". Walthers may have some available at that time, but the way these are being snapped up, I doubt it.

Are the decks removable on these? I've been looking for the VTTX ones specifically so I can turn them back into general service cars. Walthers put the side angles for the MTTX ones at the same height as the OTTX, which makes the deck too thick. I've had absolutely no luck finding anyone with them in stock, and I'm about to give up and scratchbuild. Anyone got a lead on a pair of them?

Six days out from auction close and it’s already gotten 11 bids driving it above 30 dollars. Same s**t as the last release basically. Walthers could make a war pension on these if they’d actually make more than five at a time and publicize their arrival better.

They don't need our input. I get that feeling from them at shows and on the phone. I just buy their buildings. They make great buildings.

At this point, I’m leaning toward a personal boycott just on principle, but you’re right, the buildings are useful on occasion. I think I’ve got most of what I need put back already, however.

I need more of their New River Mining kits for kitbashing two large mine tipples...but eBay is there...and my LHS has them too.

Rio Grande fans lucked out with the New River Mine which is a compressed version of the Oak Creek mine on the Craig Branch. That style of mine looks similar to other coal mines on the DRGW. Since I'm not modeling the Craig Branch I'll have to protolance it in elsewhere.
Anyway, mbk still had the Walthers brown OTTX PS 60' flatcar last night so I snagged one. Still one left but probably not much longer.
BTW, MBK is blowing out a bunch of Tangent freight cars at $29.99. I added a MILW (now sold out) and RI to my order - great deal on those.

I understand being conservative and not wanting to be left holding hundreds of these cars, but two consecutive releases of a car that stays in stock less than 24 hours should be speaking volumes. I'm in for a pair even though I'll have to reletter them back to Trailer Train.

I'm in for a pair even though I'll have to reletter them back to Trailer Train. I was able to snag a couple from the first release. So far one has been stripped and heavily re-worked; grabs shaved off and replaced with custom-bent grabs and NBWs, longitudinal stringers removed and new ones made from Plastruct I-Beam, cut levers added, trainline hoses added, SXT trucks with .088" wheels, and plates with NBWs added at the former location of the bulkheads. Paint will be Scalecoat TT yellow, and custom decals I made to backdate it to Trailer Train.

Read more: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/7276/walthers-60-ps-flat-cars?page=7#ixzz5sWuEHenwI've discovered that when I speak to Walthers staff, they have zero idea/don't care of what actually sells in the hobby shops. I've lobbied for more plain jane(Reporting marks only) 3251 sand hoppers because they are all over out here on my prototype. I'd love some different reporting marks as well. All you could find in extras were UP and NS cars and they seemed to think that "plain janes" didn't move, according to their shops.....It's not like they load a long way away from Milwaukee. I have the 60' container flats I need, albeit same numbers-guess I get to do modeling, after I get done stripping the NS hoppers..... Dave Burman

People fail to realize that just because "YOU" think it will sell, does not mean it actually does.

Got lucky and snagged a brown and a yellow when stopping at Main Line Trains in Blue Ridge Summit, PA, back on 23 June. Must have just come out that day?

There’s a thread over at Trainorders that alleges (1) Klein’s was substantially shorted on the Walthers 60 foot flats, receiving only 8 of each number, and (2) the entire batch sold out in two minutes, to the owner of a competing shop who snapped them up on speculation.
All I can say is, WOW. Even if only a third of that is true.

(2) the entire batch sold out in two minutes, That can't be true because I bought a brown OTTX while there were 3 left and the next day midmorning there was still one left.

“Batch” meaning the yellow VTTX cars, which is what I thought was the context we were in for the last half of the previous page.
“Who do you turn to...” is the TO thread title.

I just bought 4 from Lombard, two in Southern and two in OTTX, 90021 and 90074. They appear to still have stock including brown cars. No affiliation, just happened to find them while ordering some NS cars.

My understanding is the highly sought after versions of this new model are the open-deck VTTX Trailer Train flats, Walthers numbers 910-5309 and 910-5310. I too have seen the other cars available from various venues, they don't seem to be hard to find.

Those are the VTTX item numbers from the first run. The second run has three different roadnumbers for the VTTX cars, part numbers 910-5334 through 910-5336.

I see there are 3 VTTX cars on that auction site at a buy it now price of $49.95 or best offer plus shipping each for those that desperately want any. It’ll be interesting to see how long they last.
