...I can admit that if it wasn't for Pat McGinnis and his wife's desire for a "New Image", the NH would not be nearly as popular today. That is surely what caught me, back in my Lionel days. And it didn't go away. Which is why today I have a train from the wrong coast. Ed

NYC is, for whatever reason, not as popular as one might think for the size it was and fame they had. NYC should be a very popular road like the PRR; it was large, important, glamorous, fast, owned by titans of industry, and connected the largest city in the world with Chicago using one of the most famous trains in all the world. They have a very active historical society that is doing quite well, but for all that, it just doesn't appear to be as popular as it perhaps should be. Personally, I think it's the paint schemes. Black/white/dark gray/light gray/silver...pretty monochromatic and, as we know, color sells. And the only real color they had was jade green...which isn't the most attractive color for some folks. As a NH fan, I can admit that if it wasn't for Pat McGinnis and his wife's desire for a "New Image", the NH would not be nearly as popular today. As a PRR fan I will admit that the NYC was the better run railroad towards the end. However, I am not a fan of the lighting stripes or the cigar band at all. As drab as the PRR DLGE schemes are, they are a bit classier to me. From the 5-stripe to the F-unit whisker to the plain Jane Keystones, I always preferred them to their NYC counterparts.

I expect they'll have everything out by Tuesday at the latest. Tangent Scale Models is incredibly excited to deliver our Greenville auto parts box car models to our customers this week. The first customers will start reporting they have received their cars tomorrow. Please have patience with us if you have not received a shipment notification yet. We expect to ship all web and shop orders by the close of business on Friday, August 14. Please understand that questions via phone, email, or FB about your order's status will have the effect of slowing us down. We have a small team of people - me included - packing boxes this week working in tight quarters to get your orders processed as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you again for your patience, and we appreciate your ongoing support. David Lehlbach Tangent Scale Models

These models don't have swinging coupler pockets. Please tell me the minimum curve radius and crossover number that can be passed. Thank you for the question BN 7023. We have stated a minimum radius of 24" for these cars. As you stated they do NOT have swinging draft gear. The cars are weighted to run at more than 8 ounces, and they come with CNC-machined wheels and Kadee couplers so they run as good as they look. Thank you, David Lehlbach Tangent Scale Models

Thanks for the update, David.
Hopefully the earthquake didn't knock any of them to the floor!

Mine arrived this morning...first thing I noticed was the heavy weight...the rivet detail is exceptional, the printing detail is excellent and everything else is typical of Tangent.
What a piece of artwork.

My order showed up this afternoon, wow these cars are just amazing!!!! The overall detail and the Cushioning is just incredible. That said, My wallet will be empty on spending on the next two or three 86' releases this year. Can't wait for the next run of 86' EL, PC, CE&I, NW, etc. maybe Thrall 8 doors? next?? Aside from a few Moloco pre-orders,I'm done. Thanks Tangent $$$ well spent!!!!!

Do the coupler boxes swing? We are advertising a 24" minimum radius for these cars. Our coupler boxes do not swing. David Lehlbach Tangent Scale Models They don't have to swing to negotiate a 24" radius. The draft gear on these cars allowed for the couplers to swing wider than regular cars, which Tangent has faithfully duplicated. With the longer shank "scale" Kadee couplers, the coupler swing on the models is enough for 24" radius curves.

Someone asked about crossovers with these cars.
Personally I'm using #8 turnouts for crossovers to aid long cars sucn as these since a crossover is an S-curve basically.

Got my big beautiful box from Tangent yesterday. This thing is just awesome and very well done. I very happy with it and I'll try to get a better pic over the weekend out the box. Oh and I'm almost equally as pleased with the free sticker, more hobby manufacturers should get on that. Naked tool boxes just don't look right.

Cool! Put it on the back of your car to balance the "OBX" sticker on the other corner!

My two Tangent boxcars arrived yesterday (DT&I and Southern) - really nice. I got a sticker too so tool box is a good idea to place it.
I'm working on obtaining one or two Southern Pacific versions and will hopefully have those on the way by early next week.

Got my four 1 each of DTI southern NYC and SP these are awesome! I'll end up with quite a fleet of these as there are many roads I want. Also I was correct thinking the old Athearn ones are height compressed the body is about 1/16" to short so the Athearn thrall is no doubt the same. Thanks Tangent for an excellent model!!

Super, super nice cars. Another Tangent home run as always.
I must say, I was surprised to see the tack boards were printed on though.

Along with my three decorated cars, I ordered one of the undecorated kits. OMG. Dave has provided hours of fun with all the parts provided. For everyone who has been complaining about the lack of kits, I say: “belly up to the bar, and put your money where your mouth is”. These kits are incredible. Thank you David.

Mine are due in shortly. Can't wait.
Hopefully the 8-door versions will follow. Even if they were a small percentage of the fleet, I'll buy em. After that do the other builder's 86 footers. I'll buy them too.
This fills an enormous gap in high-end models. Delighted that Tangent is doing them.

Now that we've been spoiled by Tangent Greenvilles, I'd love to Thrall 86' boxcars made. When I look at photo's with their straight side sills, they seem to be very common. Four doors I mean, but eight door too.

Christmas in August...the Tangent 86 foot box cars arrived last Tuesday and received shipping notice that ScaleTrains auto racks will be here Monday morning.
My auto industry train keeps growing in length and expense.

Yeah your gonna love these cars. 8-doors I believe were Thall's not Greenvilles Greenville did indeed produce "quad door" or 4 door cars. The Thrall and Greenville "quad door" or 4 door cars look "kind of" similar though, which may be why you are saying that. As an aside: by 4 door cars we mean 8 total doors because you cannot see both sides of the car at the same time, and normal boxcar nomenclature adheres to that "rule" for descriptors). Tangent Scale Models has explicitly stated that 4 door cars are indeed part of our system, on this page: www.tangentscalemodels.com/greenville-86-high-cube-double-plug-door-box-car/ We stated: "We have more body variations in progress, including the quad-door cars for GM and Oldsmobile service (original assignments which changed with time)." The issue is we cannot release all of the variations at once. But we will release them with time. Best wishes to you, David Lehlbach Tangent Scale Models
