The X26 is big news for PRR modelers. Thanks again Rapido!

Might be able to grab a pink rack this time. I hesitated last time and missed my chance.

Newsletter is out, items on the website:
Note that the pink well car is already sold out at Rapido - anyone wanting better contact their dealer soon (as it appears to be the case for all the other well cars except Ferromex)

Friday, June 11, 2021 about 10:04 p.m., EDT, with additions added June 12 about 6:45 a.m.
This will make some corrections to my earlier posting.
Rapido Trains DID post a new Newsletter today, as promised. This forum has a separate thread on that now. I'll just add a couple of things here.
My sighting of a D&H USRA single sheathed boxcar still in revenue service in Philadelphia would have been as early as 1962 or as late as 1964, not 1967. However, the caption for the photo of D&H 17239 and a sister car on p. 44 of the "D&H Color Guide" from Morning Sun Books says that "the series remained in limited [revenue] service through 1963 with some hardy survivors lasting until 1967". And the photo shows that the 87239 still had wood doors, contrary to my recollection, which was apparently wrong. The cars' ends was composed of three sheets of steel, each of which had 5 horizontal ribs, like the forthcoming Rapido Trains model and unlike the Accurail CN-based model.
Rapido Trains's website shows it's doing all the models in this run with simulated wood doors, except for the PRR ones, which will be available both with Youngstown steel doors or with CRECO ones, and the undecorated version, which will come with all three types. The D&H paint scheme would be valid for the 1940s and possibly earlier. I may try to persuade the folks at the firm to add or substitute the later scheme that was already in use by 1953, when the last actual D&H steam engines last ran. I'll need to do some digging for information to send them. If that isn't successful I'll want to buy one car decorated as is now advertised and one undecorated one.

Just guesswork on my part, but I think one of the advantages of all these freight cars Rapido is currently tooling is that they will often be able to have additional runs done more frequently than they can do with the passenger stuff. They should also fit in quite well as being relatively low risk items to do as factory fill in projects, noting that the well cars effectively sold out at Rapido just through dealer orders.

Rapido has announced they're going to stream tomorrow at 7 and showcase a new product. Set your clocks, even though I have doubts that Rapido is going to announce anything that's pictured, assuming they'd bait and switch.

I don’t know if now is the time but I think we’re going to see a C424/425 from Rapido at some point.

Does Jason need a tug boat for his layout?

Or a GP30?

For drive axles? Is that the justification for showing the steam engine? Lots of options for steam!

No, though Toronto does have tugboats.
I don't know that they will announce it, but I can't help but think if a GP40TC stands a chance of getting made it will happen now/soon (even if as a conditional announcement) given the additional Amtrak interest this year - and with the F59PH past it's order deadline there is no longer a conflict with GO fans.

Hopefully it's not a GP30. I'd rather see Scale Trains release the GP30 as it would be more accurate and not have the typical shortcomings of Rapido's recent locomotive releases in my opinion. I continue to see oversized/incorrect grills, oversized cut lever bars and other end detail, oversized tread plate, and missing prototype details. I don't think it would be an improvement over the P2k GP30.

Rapido Trains - Facebook Live - June 24th 2021
Jordon, Craig Walker, John Sheridan, Paul Cutler III
GE U25B - now aim for about 8 paint schemes per release - walkways are unique to each roadname - if GE Demo units sell really well they would consider doing the low-nose demo unit - PC - handrails will be black
- purple windows - special color (Pantone Rhodamine Red) chosen to tell factory that it is clear plastic
0:50 - relaunch of H16-44 - CN Noodle #2213 will be changed given they are already doing #2213 in green - CP #8709 action red -> #8716 - CP #8715/#8716 were a pair assigned to rail grinder duties - the H16-44 has been a test to see if more niche prototypes are viable in model form, if this succeeds other things likely become possible, if not then ...
- John Sheridan starts a new project tomorrow - northeastern caboose in tooling - Reefer - sample next month - later Reefer versions likely in future runs - more passenger cars coming - circuit board shortages may delay some locos 1 or 2 months (industry wide problem) - EP-5 in production, leave factory late August/September - John pushing for more electrics - do the buses sell? latest run was 10,000 units, they sold around 35,000 to date - just starting work on 2 new HO cars - Caprice factory order increased by 20% due to higher than expected demand - 2nd half of SW1200 order on the water currently (left factory last week of May but spent 3 weeks in China waiting for shipping) - Barrel Ore Cars - huge success - John Sheridan will have 2 or 3 more products announced this summer - currently 5 factories - RS-18u - likely August or September order deadline
- next live stream likely mid to late July - Jordon will be on a TrainWorld event July 27th about Amtrak (Matt Donnelly also particpating)
video will be uploaded to YouTube in several days, link when that happens.

Those Caprices are gonna be great. I preordered one. I am working on a Free-Mo module of Weyauwega, I need a few Walthers propane cars, then I can take my Chevy down to the BLEVE. Save room for me! I am working on modules of Norfolk Southern's mainline through the Great Dismal Swamp, and of Amtrak's GUNPOW interlocking in Maryland.

Has Rapido ever mentioned bringing back the VIA baggage car? It was one of their first products but disappeared from their website years ago. Since Amtrak inherited seven of them, it would have been great to see it offered again for the 50th anniversary. A new correct HEP underbody would be even better, but I’m sure that’s not worth the cost for such a small number of cars.
My apologies if this has come up before, I haven’t kept up with this topic very well.
