Wow, The hostility! You guys sound stressed out. Maybe you guys should relax with a six pack of fantasy cars, and a Tyco diesel! I did, and I forgot how relaxing it was!
You think I’m atsfan? Wow, I must be a lot more controversial than I thought!
NS4122, aka Not Bruce, please forgive the mistaken identity, but I must say your postings have the same caustic tone as his! My mistake!

I’m not sure what you mean? I was just reflecting and decided I might’ve come off too strong against this announcement, and decided to review the entire thread. I ended up using the like button for the posts that are the most succinct. I really got a couple decent ones in there, if I do say so myself. That’s what the like button is for, isn’t it? Please advise. I’m confused! Thanks for your patience. Hey, which one was your favorite? I am partial to your brass Tyco track question post with the follow-up regarding carpet fibers getting tangled on your axles. Seems like an analogy for something else that might be going on. That one is pretty good so I hit the like button. you appear to be the driving force of this new company. I’ve been thinking, I don’t think i wanna swap the Kadees for x2f couplers. I’m thinking talgo trucks may work better with my 15 inch radius. Can I convert your cars for this? perhaps Ryan can draw up a replacement bolster as a Hexagon part? Can you two work together and develop one? I’ll need seven pairs! Thanks a bunch!

I wish a 100% success for Homeshops so more cars can be done and I hope that I can contribute more artwork for my roads. COPPER STATE RAILWAY, CAIRO PORT TERMINAL & CHICAGO, MIDWEST RAIL GROUP and TWO HARBORS IRON. Although TWO HARBORS IRON probably not since it is mostly just ore jennies.

There's no way rounder can fill the shoes of our beloved Frank. Ed Careful now, Ed. This thread is a drivel-free zone! Drivel being anything prototype based, or of dissent, of course. The majority has spoken.

Which of these roads/ideas are older than, or will live to be older than, my Brita filter element? Surely they won’t get shelved again soon for another change of scale, focus, or era. I hope not, anyways. Love your work!

For some reason I did not see this getting so out of hand.
At this point around here, hardly anything surprises me any more.

The Copper State Railway has been around for me since September 1996. Two Harbors Iron has been with me since about 1987. Cairo Port Terminal & Chicago is fairly new at I think 2017. The Midwest Rail Group is fairly new from the beginning of 2021 and it came about as the company that acquired the CPT&C after it went bankrupt in 1971.
So if you have not changed your Brita filter since 1987, well I think it is about time.
Rounder, something you might want to understand and maybe you will appreciate it a little more I hope. Model trains is ALL make believe. All of it. None of it is real. It is something that stuck with us since we were kids and as adults have taken it to another level. Does not matter what that level is, it is still ALL make believe. You might be modeling a prototype, but it is only a representation of that prototype and it is not real. I am sure you like movies. I do not know what kind, but unless you ONLY watch documentaries, pretty much everything or most everything else is fiction. I am sure you have read books. Lots of books and some of the best books to enjoy are fiction. Prototype modeling a real railroad to me personally is boring. I still like it and I enjoy seeing the models, but the story is already written. Does not mean I am not still building some prototype models. I like to be entertained and this is part of entertainment as well as writing a history for my roads. I am not being paid to do what I do with my free time so if I switch between my modeling interests, it is because I am entertaining myself. Now if someone wants to pay me to stay focused. That would be another story and I would be happy to pick a road and stay with it just as long as it is not a Western road. Please allow me to model Midwest or Eastern.
Here is something else you might want to think about. Some of your fellow modelers also work for the railroads. One being a fellow modeler who contributed one of the cars to Homeshops. He models freelance because he sees the prototype EVERY day. If you take your hobby seriously as I do, you set standards and freelancing is not as easy as you might think. Coming up with a believable scenario and building the history is a lot more work than prototype modeling. Researching how the railroads in the area you want to model came to be and the ones that disappeared. How railroads operate and emulating their reason for doing things, for their purchasing practices and how they run their shops. I have been very fortunate to know quite a few fellow modelers that also work for both class one railroads and short lines.
I want to thank you for the kind words as well. I appreciate that. Please cut us some slack though. I understand the passion you may have. I became an asshole and a person I did not want to be because of my passion for it I lost friends and one in particular that I really miss and I learned a valuable lesson. I am back here because of the good graces of Donnell. I am also thoroughly enjoying my new found passion for this hobby and bringing back the enjoyment of it for me. I have never had more fun with model trains than when I am proto-freelancing.
Anyway, I have written way to much already. Enjoy the hobby rounder and whos not to say that with this run of freelanced cars for Homeshops that Dave isn't also planning a new run of prototype cars for Tangent.

Brian, you are spot on! Absolutely no judgement on my part for freelancing. I started out that way this week, but I have seen the light, did a 180, I see I was totally wrong. Now I am all in! I plan to purchase one of each car, I am just waiting on a response about the bolster question. happy railroading!

Brian, I am honored to share the spotlight with the Copper Basin. I too worked for the railroad back in the 80’s. By being a clerk, I saw everything it took to move a car from point A to point B from the inside. Running a railroad is a lot more than just running trains. It was during this time that I was able to develop the Arkansas Valley into a “real” railroad. One of my biggest kicks was developing a history for the AV. Why does the railroad exist in the first place? Track diagrams, timetables, rosters, waybills. They all have to be created for your railroad to exist. I have purchased a couple of the Copper Basin cars and look forward to learning more about the Copper Basin Railroad.

I bought one of the freelanced cars. I like to buy others freelanced cars to run. The freelance group on facebook has a great group of people. Some do custom runs from accurail and others sell their decals. This guy got permission from everyone to do these runs of cars. It's different, I like different.

Right now, I don't really need more hoppers but if they were 40' box cars I might get one.

Oh boy. I have not read all the pages, but the last two are...interesting?
There is nothing to be gained by becoming infamous on internet train forums.
We used to have more great modelers on here showing off their work than what it seems we have now, and I'm sorry if in any way I contributed to that.

Long time, no hear! I’m not sure why’d you lament a lack of modeling on a freelance RTR hopper car announcement thread, but I can certainly empathize with the spirit of it!
