Thomas, This is a strange comment, why would give up on the waffle boxcars, do you not want them anymore? We have shown several samples of them along the way and we received the final samples and had them approved. We believe our customers want their cars to be accurate in all aspects rather than not. Nick I gave up on the waffle boxcars; and will just buy a couple of cars if I can find them here and there...too much sitting out there for me. I gave up because they are long overdue, Nick. When do you think they will show up?

How can they be overdue? when there was no date ever given. Those of us that buy top quality Moloco cars know the wait is worth it. Nick does deliver, no vaporware there. The FGE's are invoicing and shipping now, the Brainerd Double Doors next, followed by the Waffles. Keeping up with the Model Railroad Press and Manufacturers announcements will help ease the frustration. Waiting for the waffles is what's keeping me alive. John O

Thomas, I would agree with you they are taking longer than I would want. But schedules are not as important as a "perfect" product. However, as a professional Industrial (product) Designer and Toolmaker a rarity in our industry, with the likes of my mentor Gordon Cannon (RIP) some things can't be avoided in a unique hobby as ours. Which mixes function and form together. One of our mantras is to get functional and durable details and rolling on tracks straight out of the box. During the period since announcement we have had three rounds of tooling samples which i personally assembled and have tested at my clubs' layout, which amounts to several months of real life testing and operations, just to see if anything pops up that you can't see by looking at a static model. The club track that has 50 years old track in spots with many double slip switches. I also test my 0.088" wheelsets in them just in case as well. As well as in trains of 50 cars or more. We check all the details and functions against our CAD and not rushing this critical step, with actually physical parts in hand, not photos from the factory. It is of course very tempting as a fellow modeler to get a cool product out quickly. However, do you really want a product with incorrect or odd sized waffles? Incorrect dimensions that sort of looks like the real thing, but not? Do you want your models to be warped or tilted or have brake sleds for trucks? Warping causing incorrect coupler heights or rubbing of wheels? All variations of a models, versus stand-ins? paint colours that look like pastels? i don't. Anyway. We've been doing RTR since 2012 or so and been around since 1996. Have we not delivered everything we started? I follow you on FB and love your work and you take care in what you do, so no ill will to you. Let me get back to it. I would expect they’d be correct. But I also wouldn’t measure them…Id let you do that.
I want them as I sent color photos to you of them given to me by Ed Hawkins and the ACF group at the STL Museum of Transport; so yeah, they are in demand on my list…
Love the Moloco stuff…always have. Thank you for kind words on my FB. No issues here. Just honest opinions. I’ve missed the mark before…

If you think the wait between Announcement and the actual product being shipped to consumers is long lets look at the following:
Spring Mills Depot B&O I-1/2/3/4/5 Cabooses Trainworx 40ft Drop frame trailers Intermountain (Multiple items)
Need I say more!

Exactly, day 3 of June 2024 - are they done yet? Looks like they haven't done their June update just yet. Product | Stage | Notes | ACF boxcars Exceed Plate C runs (waffles/non-waffles) | Production sample 20/5/24
| Production starts early June!

It's still very early in June, give them some time.

I wonder how Tangent can resist announcing products when they decide to produce them instead of when they're available. If everybody did that, what would we talk about?

We would talk about how, if we'd known they were gonna make something, we could have warned them about all the mistakes they were going to make. So. Not much change, really. Ed

Hate to be that guy, but I wish Moloco would speed things up a bit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the company and the models that they produce. The quality and attention to detail is second to none. But at this point with the pre-orders, I can't even remember what I ordered, let alone if I even want or need it now. A lot can happen in the 3-4 years it takes from announcement to final product in ones personal life. I can't be alone in these thoughts. At the end of the day, does this hurt a business in the long run....

It seems that Tangent and Moloco have not made many mistakes. I get the impression that Nick is a one-man show, so there's not much opportunity to drop the ball as he seems to be laser focused on every aspect of his models. There don't seem to be very many players on the Tangent team, either. Dave is the only name I'm aware of there.

Tony The production started on the 3rd. There is a process to follow to get the highest most consistent accuracy and quality product out. To get this level of completeness does take time. I'm in the habit of doing it once properly, I respect my customers hard earned money, so nothing else will do. Nick Has the production started on the ACF boxcars Exceed Plate C run? If you can't remember what you pre-ordered, just look through your records. That's how I can find the unfilled Intermountain order from 2007: 6 of 45334. Ed

Call me crazy, but when I order a high-end freight car, I tend not to forget what it was I ordered. What do these things cost? My brain will turn to mush eventually but I won't forget what it was I ordered.

June 5, nearly 10 a.m., EDT
Interesting thread.
At this point three of the six assembled freight cars I have on order are from Moloco. I'm very pleased indeed with Nick's cars I already have.
Remember that patience is a virtue. And "good things come to those who wait" -- not always, but often.
