These are the images PWRS sent me for the car I ordered (Railbox). Can't really tell anything from the image other than the PC car looks not so great green in color.
Yikes! The PC green looks really off. I haven't seen the "approved" green. The only one I saw was the first version and it was way closer to a Cascade green (I still have that sample). I hope they aren't that faded. Darrell

Any idea when those photos were taken? Are they the cars that were just delivered?

PC looks good for an aged car, ready for stenciling into CR.

They were taken upon my request for car photo when I saw the boxes of the cars arrived. I wonder why they didn't post them to their web page so more people see them.

I wonder why they didn't post them to their web page so more people see them. No, that would be exactly what they'd be expecting us to do..... The Penn Central car is meeting my expectations.

I was interested in these but don't recall final production photos. Didn't want to commit sight unseen.

Here are a few shots to help the discussion on the color of the PC car. First one also includes two Railbox cars on either side: Comparison to NYC paint: None of these are my photos, just screen grabs from the internet over the years. Looking forward to receiving my cars, it's been a long wait. Thanks, Mark

That PC model would look great as a heavily rusted and faded car.... But as a new 1970s car, not so much.

I always get a kick out of people complaining about paint colors, especially when comparing old, improperly exposed film prints or slides from 40 years ago, of equipment that isn't brand new to modern, model photos taken under bad color artificial lighting on a cell phone.
I decided to be a Guinea Pig and ordered a single RBOX . We will see how it goes.

That second photo reminds me a bit like one of the ExactRail Greenville 60' auto parts box cars which was supposedly painted the wrong, as-delivered, color. It was a rather light turquoise.

I received a few more images directly from Dan. I'm starting to see errors. These are production models. Dan was adamant these are the most accurate box cars. He said he spent over $100K fixing the previous errors. One thing that immediately is second guessing my order is that he said he sent a competitor's truck to the Chinese to engineer exact copies for the cars. The "The" in "The nationwide boxcar pool" is not positioned correctly and has a lower case "t" when it should have an upper case "T". This causes all the lettering to be slighting off. The car end initials and road number are misplaced and too large. The picture is too fuzzy to see what the end ladders look like. The left side of the door looks like it's jetting out away from the body. The door hardware in the top door track should be painted the body yellow and not black. I don't have a clue what the large black protrusion is sticking out on the left hand side of the door over the body. There is no match for it in prototype images unless it's a small latch, but then there is nothing on the body to "latch" it to. Missing all door hardware to the left of the door. The bottom door track under the door appears to be free floating. Just under the roof on the prototype there is an overlapping piece of sheet metal over the ribs which also creates a gap between the ribs. On the model this piece is flush with the top of the ribs and solid - the lip is replicated though.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I figured there was no way these came in without stuff to fix. Should that be necessary? We've covered that plenty of times. Definitely will need to repaint my PC car if that's the color, no way around it. Still, it's these or a sow's ear ACF if I want any Railboxes in March '75.
Are those brake rods to the trucks wire? Solid!!
I wouldn't use that PC 153177 for reference. Virtually everything about the paint and lettering is off.

So the end lettering is too high, RBOX and possibly the number is the wrong font, "the nationwide boxcar pool" is also the wrong font.
Oof indeed.

Oh my. rr-fallenflags.org/rbox/rbox14886rma.jpgrr-fallenflags.org/rbox/rbox14783.jpgOther prototype RBOX photos with a clear view of the side show how far off the lettering is. The typeface for the reporting marks is too heavy, the "next load/any road" lettering is far too small, as is the logo, in addition to the aforementioned problems. All this plus the fit and finish shown above with the doors and door tracks.

seems par for the course with PWRS/NARC, talk a massive game (and price the product to match), and then the model is 'just OK' when it comes out.
Or in this case even less than OK.
As much as I would like to have a unit train worth of their potash cars (as an example), IMO they are simply not worth the 70 bucks a car on average I see people selling them for.

Now, the big question is- Did the mess up the boxcar body dimensions?

So the end lettering is too high, RBOX and possibly the number is the wrong font, "the nationwide boxcar pool" is also the wrong font. Oof indeed. www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=106386The "x" on the model is vertical, the "x" on the prototype is slanted. The words "next load" and "any road" are centered in their respective panels on the prototype; they are not on the model. It appears the logo on the model is too small, based on the above comment. Ed

So who has good RBOX decals? DECALS ? Maybe PWRS ! Now there's a good business model !! Small discrepancies on the model may be acceptable to some , BUT the lettering, REALLY!!! Didn't they ever do those " spot the difference " photos when they were younger ? Did they ever look at the prototype pic they had on their own website ? HONESTLY !! Quality Control ?

So who has good RBOX decals? Precision Design Co makes some really nice 'ghosted' lettering for Railboxes but I feel like that's not what you are after.

So, has anyone contacted PWRS and let them know? Or are you expecting them to read your comments here?
Oh, look! Photos went up waaaaaayyyy back on October 19, 2018 of this very car and none of the eagle eyes here caught the problem, and said something to the folks at PWRS when something could have been done but now pile on the bandwagon. Hmmmmm.....
