Any update since the last date we had of March for release? Sure. The cars are in production. There was a production delay due to the factory shutting down over the pandemic. They are back up and running (I've been receiving samples on other projects) and the plan is for the cars to hit the dock in May. I have no ideas if there will be delays getting on a ship or if there will be delays clearing customs due to the pandemic. Thanks for your patience with this car taking so long. Darrell Sawyer

Darrell Sawyer Can we expect more new freight car announcements this year from PWRS/NARC?!

PWRS/NARC has a lot of new tooling in the pipeline already: -PS 5077 Boxcar -NSC 5092 Combo-Door Boxcars -MIL 4550 Cylindrical Covered Hopper -NSC 5431 3-Bay Covered Hopper Plus, if I recall correctly, some more schemes on their modern NSC potash car.
Looking forward to the NSC 5092 and MIL 4550. Might have to get a few outside my era modern grain 5431s if the CP Heritage SD70ACUs get done (such an announcement has been hinted at by PWRS).

Sure. Last word we got just before the latest national holiday was that they are painted and decorated and awaiting assembly. Supposedly they will ship in November. Hopefully they will. I'll try to remember to post something when they finally do.

I spoke with someone today about these and they are supposed to be shipped from China soon. For what I gathered they are being put in the container at this time or being readied.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but as I recall transit time for a freighter from China is four to six weeks. So that would mean these should arrive in the US in late December or early January.
I’m eager to get mine; it’s been a long wait.
Thanks, Mark

I know I am one person but from my experience I have had no problems with PWRS. Yes I did spend about an hour on the phone when I set up that PORTERS account but it helped out too. Learning a few short cuts in using the advanced search function was nice. One thing I like most is the "Goodie Box", palace to hold small items until you have what you think is a large enough order to justify the shipping expense. No $11.95 or $15 to ship one HO scale freight car. I have a couple OOP items holding now for the 5077's to arrive to ship everything at once.
I will say this is not my first stop when I get ready to order something online. I look to Spring Creek, Lombard, MB Klein and others first, even Ebay before I order from PWRS. I would not hesitate to order a 5077 if I wanted one. PWRS will be the only place you can get it. There are no other dealers I am aware of that handle their NARC produced items. I am not looking to change anyone's mind and I am not gaining anything from posting this info from PWRS, Just Sayin'.

Received the following email today from PWRS:
"Currently the cars are on the water in a big cargo ship. When they arrive in Canada (in 8-12 days) they are checked through customs and then delivered to us in South Surrey. We do not know when customs will release the container. It might be the same day or a week or 2 later. Because of the time it takes to design, create a mold, ship samples back and forth for from the manufacturing company to make sure every detail is correct, our customers can't wait to get their hands on their cars! To expedite shipping we begin processing credit cards a week or two before the cars arrive. It is ineffective to charge customers one by one, prepare the paper work, package each order and address it either for Canada Post or for customs if it is leaving the country."
They stated in their December 18 Sales Letter that they are starting to charge customers' credit cards now so they can ship the cars faster when they arrive.
Not much longer to wait now.

Thanks for the update! It is amazing how long it takes for shipping containers to move from China and then through customs. I imagine that the customs people are as overwhelmed as the FedEx/UPS/USPS workers.

Regarding long delivery/shipping times:
I (think) I would like to meet the model railroader who is all caught up on every project, and desperately needs a new "thingy" right away, or great sadness will ensue.
I assure you, it is not I.
I have proposed to my local shop that I just come in and pick up stuff that I've ordered only when I NEED it. I would thus save on storage and capital expense. It would be "just in time modeling"! So far, their interest is minimal.

As someone getting back into the hobby I bought more than I started as I was ‘catching up’ on all the releases over the past 5+ years. I think I’m going to need a policy of buy 1, weather 2 for 2021.

That's odd, I haven't been charged yet. Either way, I'm really looking forward to these.

I don't think they were going to charge anyone till the product was in their hands and ready to be shipped. I think they got notification that the container was off the ship on the way to them.

Interesting that we never saw assembled/decorated models before they hit the shelves - at least that I'm aware of. Even today, I don't see where they are including photos of the offering when making a purchase. The patched Railbox cars are of interest but personally would like to review the overall execution before placing an order.

FWIW, over at Atlas it's typically 60 days on the nose between when they announce the container has shipped to the day it shows up on my distributor's dock. I'm not sure if their containers go to the west coast and over land to New Jersey or if they go all water to a NY/NJ port.

The container ship with the PS5077s is finally at dock in Vancouver, BC after an unscheduled (to PWRS/NARCorp) diversion to Seattle. The ship is being unloaded as I type this (oh, I hope I didn't jinx anything and cause a wildcat longshoreman strike) and the container should arrive within a few days at the warehouse. This has been a long haul getting these here. 35 different versions, but not that many in the first run. Planning is going on for the second run...

Hopefully they’ll post images of the cars when they arrive at the warehouse - particularly the areas it was said were being fixed.

I am interested in these boxcars but don't really want to commit money to them without seeing good photo's of them.

Same. I would have placed a wholesale order for a bunch but need quality images of the end product first.

Regarding the product as it stands, I can already say with sureness that I plan to repaint some of what I'm buying. I think the SSAM cars are pretty decent, I think the MRL cars are as well, but I think the font on the NSL version is unacceptable. Mine will be a crusty ELS patch version, but I'm still weighing my options. The PC color will be subpar as well.
If the CSX blue looks too bright those will get sprayed too. The artwork on the numbers looks off anyway. I think the only thing I'll end up changing when I repaint these is adding better end ladders (we have discussed this on previous threads) and on some of the skirt versions, new stirrups. Hopefully that will be the extent of that.
The plate B is very important to me, and many of you, so while I'm not exactly thrilled with the photos of these thus far, I am willing to commit to them simply for the prototype that is so important.

PWRS posted on their web site on February 11 that the PS 5077s are in. There's a photo on the web site of the cases of cars getting moved into the warehouse, but, alas, no photos of the cars themselves, just the stale dated images of them prior to assembly in China.

These are the images PWRS sent me for the car I ordered (Railbox). Can't really tell anything from the image other than the PC car looks not so great green in color.
