So there will be some level of irony. "Travel the Zinc Pest Limited.... A smooth ride guaranteed, free of warpage!"

And ‘limited’ is an apt modifier, since your time to enjoy them before they turn into Pringles is most definitely limited!

The new run of Walthers high level cars have arrived at dealers. I ordered a sky lounge and a step-down coach to eventually convert into Amtrak cars in the HEP era. I passed on them when they originally came out because they didn't really in my Amtrak modeling focus, but I figured I'd pick them up this time. There's a designer on Shapeways called Head End Power who sells replacement HEP ends for the Walthers cars, along with other Amtrak details. Dave

I do have to say "High 5" to Walthers for having produced the Southern RR E-units. So perhaps we may see the Southern Crescent's consist produced. A 1970's-era version offers the opportunity to run it along with early Amtrak trains since the SC ran until 1979.
But if Walthers decides not to take this route, are there HO passenger cars that Walthers produced in past runs that (after repainting / decaling) could be "realistically" used for a modeler's version of the Southern Crescent?
If I recall correctly, IHC produced the 3-door baggage car that is similar to the prototype units that often ran in the Crescent's consist.

Those IHC cars are kind of rough, they look like they were carved out of a bar of soap.
