GP38/40. I'd take one from Scaletrains a lot sooner than I would one from Rapido.
Either that or we're all wrong and its something totally out of left field like a B40-8.

General Electric SL50 in NYCTA colors. I would happily buy about 4 or 5 R47's...

i have to say I almost hope they don't do a GP30, they've done such a ho-hum job on the road names and the release schedule with the SD40-2, I can't see them getting better with the '30. And that says nothing about their paint issues, not just on the SD45 either.

Well, ST did what appears to be an excellent job on the NdeM SD40-2's. As best I can tell, they got the correct details for each unit they offered, and the paint is great, imo. Nailed it.
Also, I just now received my return authorization to return a diesel that was incorrectly painted by another manufacturer. Manufacturer is refunding my purchase price but says they cannot replace the shells. Again, is not ST.
Regarding 4-axle units, I've wanted a GP-20 for a long time, only waited 45 years for a good model, and I have one on order.

Always impressive when you feature a webpage address in your ad, and the page doesn't exist - good way to lose customers.
(yes, they don't want the eventual page there, but there should at least be a temporary page there for now, possibly just an image of the ad).

So it says the four axle you've been waiting for. Is that the you've as in the collective market or the you've as in you as a singular modeler?
As for the collective, I think a lot have wanted a really nice four axle Alco or GE since the EMD market is way over saturated. As a singular modeler, I can think of a few ALCo or GE's that I have been waiting for. I think I would prefer a ST U25B over a Rapido model. I know a few that would love a high quality B23-7. I would like a good quality C424/425. So their add is not all that exciting most likely because it will not be any of these and probably an EMD. ST can reuse a little of their tooling for a four axle EMD. That would make sense they would go that route. Didn't MTH have a GP35? Maybe they spruced that one up a little although I still like the Kato model over anything that would come out. I really cannot get excited over anyone's new locomotive models simply because the water park slide handrails will ruin it. Although at one point when I had talked to Shane a long time ago he did mention they would at least look at what they could do about straightening out the handrails. That was before the SD45 came out.

Have we all forgotten that the Ingalls is a four axle?

I'd like to see ScaleTrains do the GP30 in Rivet Counter. They seem to have gotten the colors right for the D&RGW SD40T-2.

Personally I'd prefer a much upgraded/newly tooled C424/5 over a GP-30, but whatever...

Have we all forgotten that the Ingalls is a four axle? Not possible with the constant reminders posted here on ARF! Who knew GM&O and Ingalls had such a vocal fan club?

The GP30 at least has a pretty decent model via Proto 2000 and Walthers. However, the uber-common for ‘60s and ‘70s modelers GP35 has yet to have a worthy model produced in plastic, other than Kato which falls short in the detail and paint departments. Every major road I model (WM, PRR, PC, NYC, RDG) had substantial numbers of these, as did most other roads east and west - even Erie Lackawanna!

Didn’t MTH do a GP35? I wonder if they bought that tooling? Yes they did. If I remember correctly, the MTH GP35 wasn’t received well on this forum with some comparing it to a Kato GP35 in terms of shell detailing and accuracy. Judging by the photos included in this 2013 review, I would say that the Kato shell is better. MTH HO scale GP35 diesel locomotiveThanks, Mark J. Reading, PA

I say it’s the GP38/40 line. Scaletrains will have sample on hand so Rapidos only way to make a splash was to announce with CAD drawings on Christmas Day….
This will roll perfectly into a SD40/38 line as it’s just a matter to already available longhood (GP38/40), being placed on a new walkway, on top of a already available frame (SD45) Boom it’s the scale 60’s 70’s!

Went through the ScaleTrains Q&A thread for a different reason, in April 2021 Shane Wilson said the GP30 was his favorite loco.

I'm all in for a new four axle EMD GP-7 or 35, even a C-424-425 Rivet Counter. That said, I'm all in for more EL Units but they gotta get the colors right. If so, I'll buy a bunch if they just get it right.
If it's a 30, I'm ok with a few PC, RDG & maybe a B&O.
