Which is disappointing, why not offer the "as delivered" ones first? Yeah, I can back date them to a reasonable degree, but really don't feel like taking apart 200.00 locos to re detail them. So I'm out. Wow... You know, it's NOT like you're having to deal with blanked out class lights, or blanked nose signal lights here. All of you clamoring for "as delivered"- That means no plow and equipped with footboards. Or do you mean post-1965 up, where they were plow-equipped and pretty much the same from then on (except for the ones that got plows from GP7s)? With the exception of the rerail frog, 3018 and 3023 would work for post-1965. OK the nose light might be a Gyralite instead of Mars, but I haven't looked that close. I find it funny that in all of this, ya'll are missing the biggest deal-breaker: THE ACI LABELS ARE WRONG! Oh, the horrors! It even looks like they might have used the same ACI label across all models! Good golly, how will my scale yardmasters ever tell these apart? Differences would include: Plows Re Rail frogs Cut Levers Radio ant. Paint at the stepwells There's more but I'll let "y'all" figure it out.

Don't feel bad. While I could use one of the N&W road numbers I am not going is either. But no Southern in the first run either and Southern owned more GP30's than N&W did. I really want a correct NKP unit painted in N&W with the horizontal headlight and nose recessed bell. These would be amazing units to have, although I would prefer to see them in the black paint scheme. An old kitbashed #2904 was my wife's engagement present back in the day, and I would love to see that one done. Pretty sure it would be way more accurate than what I put together in 1985!

Hello? Great Northern.... CGW.... Arizona & California.... IC "Death Star".... KCS.... A case could be made for each of them. I'd buy A&C motors just for the fact a friend and his brother wound up buying 5 if them and 2 GP35's from the lien holder for a killer price. My friend still has the 3005 here locally.

Count me in for CGW and/or GM&O for the shelf. For layout models, WC, SOO (starting point), and the BN and ATSF 90's iterations are all in play.
An SAL version would also be too stunning to pass on, as would an L&N with the italicized graphics.
This has spun out of control already.

Differences would include: Plows Re Rail frogs Cut Levers Radio ant. Paint at the stepwells There's more but I'll let "y'all" figure it out. Plows- Easily changed Rerail Frogs- Ditto Cut Levers- Yeah, a pain to change, but doable Radio Antenna- Snip off Sinclair, drill/mount firecracker Paint at stepwells- Yeah, a bit tricky as well, but good thing black is easy to match (especially when weathered). In my earlier comment, I was not trying to imply "plows and footboards" were the only changes, but rather "as delivered" meant something different than what some members here were commenting on. Would it be nice to have an open-the-box-and-place-on-track model for era "X"? Sure it would. Will some people buy the first release from ST and make changes for era "X"? Some probably will. Will some wait until they can get era "X" detailed models correct from the factory? Sure they will. Will some people never be satisfied no matter what? (Uh, this is the Atlas Rescue Forum...) Will some people use this as an excuse to data dump every fact about these, no matter how tenuous said fact is to the discussion at hand? (Again, this is the ARF...) Why did ST do "this" and not "that" doing one "later" and another "now"? That's their business. Fortunately, I'm too broke to consider purchasing multiples of these (and actually after some other purchases- none at all). Those that buy these and simply run out of the box- enjoy! Those that buy these and modify what's important to you- enjoy! Those that are not happy no matter what- This is the ARF, after all... Those that are upset with this offering for whatever reason- Save you money until version "X" get produced and buy it then.
